Look closely at the Saint Laurent bag logo

As so often, the logo is a feature that you should take a closer look at. In general, since 2012 the label no longer appears under the name Yves Saint Laurent, but has been renamed Saint Laurent. Therefore, it is quite possible that the design of older models may differ from that of the newer models. However, a decisive feature is that the “T” in the words Saint and Laurent should touch the “N” in front of it. Always check the quality of the metal logo and its placement. In many fakes, the “YSL” lettering is not placed exactly in the middle and is not clean.

Check the label

Many fake Saint Laurent bags have a metal label on the outside with the words “Yves Saint Laurent” or a leather label with the words “Genuine Leather”. Many unsuspecting buyers see this as an additional authenticity feature, but the exact opposite is true. Original YSL bags do not have an additional label on the outside with the above mentioned lettering.

Examine the serial number

Usually all original YSL bags have a serial number which is placed inside the bag. Check if your bag has this feature and if the serial number exists at all. If this number is missing, you should listen carefully and leave it alone. If you are not sure about the serial number, you can either ask a Saint Laurent store directly or check the official website. On many Saint Laurent bags, you will also find the words “made in Italy” under the serial number. Depending on the model and year of manufacture, this may also have been stamped in capital letters.
